Tanzania’s Under-19 World Cup campaign hit rock bottom as they were skittled for 85 in 36 overs by Afghanistan in a Group D encounter at Windhoek’s High Performance Oval. The Wednesday matchup exposed Tanzania’s batting frailties, with the team winning the toss and electing to bat—a choice that led to their swift downfall.

Disaster struck early: opener Akre Pascal Hugo out for 3 off 9 balls at 1.4 overs, then Darpan Jobanputra for 0. Scoreboard read 5/2. Only three players crossed 10 runs; the rest faltered badly, including three ducks. No sixes, just two fours—the innings lacked punch entirely.

Partnerships were scarce. Ayan Sharif (8) and Rehan Atif (11) added some, but the crucial 35-run stand between Agostino Meya Mwamkele (14) and skipper Laksh Bakrania (10) ended too late to matter.

Afghanistan’s attack was lethal. Standout performer Nooristani Umarzai took 5/9 in 7 overs (2 maidens), Uzaireullah Niyazi 2/9, and two others one each. Precision bowling dismantled Tanzania completely.

Now 0-3 in Group D, Tanzania languishes at the bottom after close loss to West Indies and South Africa’s 329-run rout. Super Sixes dreams hang by a thread; defeat next seals exit. Afghanistan surges ahead, their bowlers the heroes of this rout.
