The Under-19 World Cup 2026 delivered high drama in Windhoek as West Indies outclassed South Africa by 55 runs on Thursday at High Performance Oval. Both qualified for Super-6, yet West Indies showcased superior depth and skill in this Group encounter.

Toss victors West Indies batted but lost Francis early (14) at 33-1. Da Silva (20) and Carter built momentum with 82 runs, only for Basson to strike thrice in one over, reducing WI to 115-4. Carter’s explosive century – 114 off 104 with eight boundaries each of fours and sixes – and Van Lange’s 29 rescued the innings to 234 all out.

South Africa faltered in pursuit, folding for 179. Belle’s lethal 6 for 40 in 10 overs proved decisive, complemented by single strikes from Pollard, Morton, and Logie. Roels’ 46 stood out, but contributions from Fhalamohlaka (26), Bosman (19), and van Schalkwyk (20) couldn’t mount a challenge.

Basson had earlier shone with 5-23, but West Indies’ bowlers turned the tide. This win underscores the Windies’ potential, blending Carter’s power-hitting with Belle’s control, setting the stage for Super-6 fireworks.
