Rain played spoilsport, but not before West Indies Under-19s scripted a gritty 25-run triumph against Ireland in a Super Six showdown of the 2026 U19 World Cup at Windhoek’s High Performance Oval.

Batting first, West Indies faced early blows, reduced to 30/2. Jewel Andrew’s counter-attacking display, paired first with Joshua Da Silva (17 off 28, 2×4) for 37 runs, then with Jonathan Van Lange for 67 more, formed the backbone.

Van Lange’s 66 (82 balls, 4×4, 4×6) was a highlight, complemented by Roach and Andrew’s 28s each, as the Caribbean side reached 226 in 46.5 overs. Ireland’s Reuben Wilson excelled with three wickets, supported by two-wicket hauls from Murray and West.

Ireland’s pursuit in 40 overs began steadily: openers West (45 off 55, 8×4) and Ogilvie (14 off 34) laid 47, followed by West-Lecky’s 35. But Meka McKenzie’s devastating 10-over spell yielding 4/36 dismantled the batting lineup.

Vitel Lodge (2 wickets) and Adian Roach (1) mopped up, stranding Ireland at 164/7. With play washed out, Duckworth-Lewis declared West Indies winners by 25 runs—a result that strengthens their position while denting Ireland’s progression chances.
