The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken action against 54 private universities for non-compliance with the UGC Act, 1956, specifically Section 13, across several states. These universities did not provide the necessary information to the commission nor did they make it publicly available on their websites. The list includes three universities from Chhattisgarh: Anjanya University, Raipur; Dev Sanskriti University, Sankara Kumhari; and Maharishi Management and Technology University, Bilaspur.
In June 2024, the UGC mandated that all higher education institutions display Public Self-Disclosure information on their homepage for the benefit of students and their parents. Institutions were also required to submit crucial documents to the commission in a specified format for inspection. Despite these instructions, the implicated universities failed to comply, potentially leading to regulatory consequences. The commission had previously issued reminders through email and online meetings, and the lack of response has resulted in the public identification of these universities.
