    The second national conference of state water ministers for Jal Vision 2047 was held in Udaipur.

    Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai stated that the policy is focused on water conservation and sustainable development.

    Raipur, February 19, 2025/ At the state water ministers’ conference held in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C.R. Patil commended Chhattisgarh’s community-driven efforts in water conservation. He stated that Chhattisgarh is a leader nationwide in the construction of water structures and the state’s innovative water conservation models are exemplary for other states. He also mentioned that over 229,000 water harvesting structures have been built in Chhattisgarh, enhancing water resources.

    Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that the national recognition of Chhattisgarh’s water conservation efforts is a matter of pride. The Chhattisgarh government’s policy centers on water conservation and sustainable development. The state government is continuously working to conserve natural resources and ensure water security for future generations.

    Chhattisgarh was represented at this national-level conference by the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Saw and Water Resources Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Saw highlighted the schemes implemented for water harvesting in the state, the impact of water structures, and the importance of community participation. He said that water conservation in Chhattisgarh is not limited to government efforts but has become a people’s movement, ensuring the active participation of rural and urban citizens.

    Water Resources Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, in his address, elaborated on the increase in Chhattisgarh’s irrigation capacity and the targets set for the construction of water harvesting structures. He said that the state government has prioritized permanent structures for water harvesting and minor irrigation projects, which have improved groundwater levels and provided water for irrigation to farmers.

    Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri Patil praised Chhattisgarh’s sustainable water management policy and community participation model, stating that the state has emerged as a best-practice model for the entire country. He said that Chhattisgarh’s water structures are not just limited to water conservation but are also strengthening the rural economy, agricultural production, and water security.

    He also said that other states should draw inspiration from Chhattisgarh’s water management model and prioritize water conservation in their policies. Shri Patil also mentioned that the central government will provide all possible support to further strengthen the efforts being made by the Chhattisgarh government.
