The Uttar Pradesh government’s efforts to bolster its power infrastructure are producing positive outcomes, with the UPPCL reporting a dramatic reduction in transformer damage. The decline is attributed to the implementation of continuous monitoring, strategic interventions, and a strong accountability framework. This shift underscores the government’s commitment to providing a stable power supply.

The latest figures indicate a substantial drop in transformer failures. Power transformer damage decreased to only 12 failures during April-May 2025–26, compared to previous years. Simultaneously, general transformer damage saw a considerable decline, with a 64% decrease between the same periods.

This success is the result of comprehensive measures led by Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal. Power transformers were equipped with advanced protection systems, and distribution transformers saw upgrades. Rigorous reviews of maintenance protocols, along with the introduction of fault tracking systems and continuous monitoring have further strengthened the power distribution network. The government’s proactive approach, including strict disciplinary action for failures, has drastically reduced the problem of transformer blowouts and improved the quality of power supply across the state.
