Upasana Kamineni Konidela, known for her entrepreneurial ventures and as the wife of superstar Ram Charan, has strongly defended the practice of egg freezing as a personal right, not a mark of privilege. Her statements, made in response to social media criticism, have sparked a vital conversation about women’s autonomy over their reproductive timelines.

Konidela expressed satisfaction in fostering a “healthy debate” and thanked the online community for their thoughtful feedback. She hinted at future discussions that would explore the societal narratives around privilege. In her posts, she encouraged a deeper understanding of the subject by directing her audience to factual resources designed to promote informed commentary. Additionally, she extended a call to action for businesses to actively support women in their professional journeys.

Her arguments challenged the conventional pressures faced by women regarding marriage and motherhood. Konidela posed questions about the acceptability of marrying for love, choosing one’s partner, deciding the timing of children, and pursuing career ambitions before settling down. These inquiries underscore her belief in women’s inherent right to make personal life decisions.

Sharing her personal experience, she stated, “I married for love and companionship at 27—a choice I made on my own terms. At 29, I decided to freeze my eggs for personal and health reasons.” She further explained her motivation to inspire other women to consider their options. Now expecting twins at 39, after having her first child at 36, Konidela emphasized that a fulfilling life involves equally valuing both career and marriage, supported by a secure environment. She concluded with a powerful assertion: “Marriage and career are not competing priorities — they are equally meaningful parts of a fulfilled life. But I decide the timeline! That’s not privilege; it’s my right!!!” This highlights her stance on personal agency and reproductive freedom.
