September 2025 is set to bring a wave of new car releases to the Indian market. As the pre-Diwali season approaches, car companies are gearing up to introduce new models to attract buyers. The anticipated launches include the Vinfast VF6 and VF7, the Maruti Escudo SUV, the Mahindra Thar Facelift, the Citroen Basalt X, and the Volvo EX30 EV.
**Vinfast’s EV Expansion:**
Vinfast will officially launch in India on September 6, 2025. The VF6 will be equipped with a 59.6 kWh battery, offering a range of around 480 km. The VF7 will feature a 70.8 kWh battery, with a range of approximately 450 km. Production of these electric SUVs will take place in Tamil Nadu, marking a significant entry into the Indian EV market.
**Maruti’s New SUV:**
Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch its new mid-size SUV, the Escudo, on September 3. This SUV will be built on the same platform as the Grand Vitara but will be larger in size, with a strong hybrid engine option. It will be sold through the Arena dealership network, with an expected starting price of around ₹10 lakh.
**Mahindra Thar Facelift Details:**
Mahindra’s popular off-road SUV, the Thar (3-door), is expected to receive a facelift in the first week of September. The update will include new exterior elements and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with engine options remaining the same. This new iteration of the Thar is expected to offer a more advanced and modern experience.
**Citroen Basalt X: Pre-bookings and Features:**
Citroen India has opened pre-bookings for the Basalt X, with a token amount of ₹21,000. The launch is expected in mid-September. The car will feature new color schemes and advanced features. It is likely to be powered by the 1.2L turbo petrol engine, available with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
**Volvo EX30: Affordable Electric Option:**
The Volvo EX30 is being positioned as the brand’s most affordable electric car. It will come equipped with a 69 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 480 km (WLTP). The car will support 150 kW DC fast charging, allowing for a full charge in just 25 minutes.
