Apple has announced a critical update addressing a security vulnerability affecting iPhones, iPads, and Macs. This update is essential to protect users from potential hacking threats. The company has identified a security flaw, which is being resolved through this update. The issue originates from an out-of-bounds write issue, which Apple has now fixed. A software update has been released to address the problem promptly.

This update is relevant to iPhone 11, XS, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 series. Other affected devices include iPad Pro 13-inch, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd gen and later), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st gen and later), iPad Air (3rd gen and later), and iPad (7th gen and later). Apple has made emergency security updates available for iPadOS, iOS, and macOS users. The updates are available for iOS and iPadOS 18.6.2. Older models running iPadOS 17.7.10 can also receive the update.

macOS Sonoma 14.7.8, macOS Sequoia 15.6.1, and macOS Ventura 13.7.8 users also have access to the update. Apple has fixed the vulnerability via improved bounds checking. Although Apple hasn’t shared specifics about potential attacks, they strongly recommend that all users update their devices immediately. Security experts recommend that users install the latest software updates immediately. To update, access Settings, General, then Software Update.
