Following a significant meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Donald Trump has declared that the summit will lead to ‘everlasting peace and success’ between the two global superpowers. Trump shared his positive sentiment on social media, referring to the ‘G2 meeting’ as a highly successful encounter that promises a future of enduring peace and prosperity for both the United States and China. The meeting occurred in Busan, South Korea, amidst ongoing trade disputes that have characterized US-China relations. As a direct outcome of their discussions, Trump announced a reduction in US tariffs on Chinese goods, lowering the rate from 57% to 47%. He also reported a resolution on the contentious issue of rare earth minerals. China has welcomed this diplomatic progress, with President Xi expressing a commitment to joint action for the benefit of their respective nations and the global population. He emphasized their shared responsibility as major powers to work together on crucial global matters. In a move to enhance security and prevent misunderstandings, both countries have agreed to establish direct military-to-military communication channels. This decision followed a meeting in Malaysia between US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun. Hegseth affirmed the improving state of US-China relations, stating that peace, stability, and mutual respect are paramount for the strength and positive engagement between these two significant countries and for global well-being.
