A key associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Lakhvinder Kumar, has been extradited from the United States and arrested in India. Kumar arrived on October 25, 2025, and was immediately taken into custody at Delhi Airport by Haryana Police, marking a substantial win for Indian law enforcement in its pursuit of international fugitives. This repatriation underscores India’s determination to tackle organized crime that extends beyond its borders.

Kumar is sought by Haryana authorities for grave offenses, including extortion, intimidation, illegal weapon possession, and attempted murder. The CBI spearheaded the international effort by coordinating the issuance of an INTERPOL Red Notice in October 2024, a critical step that led to Kumar being located in the U.S. and subsequently deported. Through its role as India’s National Central Bureau for INTERPOL, the CBI maintained close communication with U.S. law enforcement via the BHARATPOL platform, ensuring a smooth handover. This extradition adds to the more than 130 criminals India has successfully brought back from various countries in recent times. The apprehension of Kumar is seen as a blow to the operational capacity of transnational criminal enterprises and a reinforcement of India’s commitment to global security partnerships.
