Lucknow’s GPO Park became a focal point of national remembrance on Friday, as UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath marked Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary with deep reverence. The Chief Minister’s tribute highlighted Gandhi’s pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle and his relevance today.

Arriving amid a respectful assembly, Adityanath offered pushpanjali at the Gandhi statue, followed by mallyarpan and a period of silence. This poignant act underscored the state’s commitment to honoring the apostle of peace. He amplified the message online via X, exhorting people to live by Gandhi’s teachings for a stronger nation.

The highlight was a captivating performance by schoolchildren, who sang bhajans like ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ with fervor. For roughly 15 minutes, their voices created an aura of devotion, which Yogi absorbed with focus before applauding and snapping pictures with the kids.

On social media, he shared: ‘On this punyatithi of Mahatma Gandhi ji, the Rashtrapita, my shat-shat naman. Bapu’s life of integrity, his resolute ahimsa, and compassion for all humanity continue to light our path. Let us assimilate these ideals to build a thriving, fair, and modern India.’

Joining the CM were key figures such as Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, MLAs Neeraj Bora and Jay Devi, MLCs Mahendra Singh, Mukesh Sharma, Ramchandra Pradhan, and BJP leader Anand Dwivedi. Their collective floral offerings amplified the ceremony’s gravity.

These tributes serve as powerful reminders of Gandhi’s sacrifices, galvanizing current leaders to advance his dreams of unity, sustainability, and ethical governance in Uttar Pradesh and beyond.
