A school manager in Uttar Pradesh has been arrested in connection with allegations of raping a class 8 student. The local police station, Sadar Kotwali, is investigating the case. A father reported to the police that the school manager had sexually assaulted his underage daughter. The girl informed her parents that she had been repeatedly abused by the school manager. After receiving the complaint, police registered an FIR and have begun interrogating the accused. The investigation is ongoing.
In a separate matter, the Odisha government has imposed a 24-hour suspension of internet and social media services in Cuttack, commencing on Sunday. This ban, which began at 7 pm on Sunday, will remain in effect until 7 pm on Monday, and covers the Cuttack Municipal Corporation, Cuttack Development Authority (CDA), and the 42 Mauza Region. The measure follows reports of fresh clashes between two groups in the area on Sunday, after an incident of stone pelting and conflict during Durga Puja immersion ceremonies last night.
