This historic day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm and pride in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai sang ‘Vande Mataram’ collectively with senior officers and employees at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan. On this occasion, everyone remembered the virtuous national consciousness of freedom with the cry of “Vande Mataram” and paid homage to the immortal martyrs.

Chief Minister Shri Sai virtually participated in the commemoration ceremony organized in New Delhi on the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’ and also heard the Prime Minister’s address.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said in his message that Vande Mataram is an inspiring expression of devotion and worship of Mother India. He said that the flow, rhythm, and harmony of the collective singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ stirs the heart. The Prime Minister said that the core sentiment of ‘Vande Mataram’ is Mother India – it is a symbol of India’s eternal concept, sense of independent existence, and cultural identity.

The Prime Minister said that ‘Vande Mataram’ was the proclamation of India’s freedom, which inspired the breaking of the shackles of slavery and the realization of the dream of an independent India. This song became the voice of revolutionaries during the freedom movement, and it was not just a voice of resistance, but a mantra to awaken self-confidence. Shri Modi said that ‘Vande Mataram’ contains the story of India’s thousands of years old civilization, culture, and prosperity. Amidst foreign invasions and the exploitative policies of the British, ‘Vande Mataram’ called for the dream of a prosperous India. He said that today the world is witnessing the rise of a new India, which is moving forward with a blend of its tradition, spirituality, and modernity.

The Prime Minister said that ‘Vande Mataram’ is as relevant today as it was during the freedom struggle, and this song will forever remain immortal in our hearts.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai extended his best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the national anthem and said that this song is an eternal symbol of profound love, gratitude, and the spirit of national duty towards the motherland. He said that today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the entire country has collectively sung ‘Vande Mataram’ in one voice, offering prayers to the motherland.

On this occasion, the release of a commemorative coin by the honorable Prime Minister alongside the collective singing of Vande Mataram is a historic memory. The song Vande Mataram, composed by Shri Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, has been an inspiration for India’s freedom movement, which has always ignited the flame of national pride, unity, and self-respect. It is a symbol of the motherland’s power, prosperity, and divinity, as well as a poetic expression of India’s unity and self-pride.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that on November 7, 1875, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay created this timeless composition, which was later included in his famous novel ‘Anandamath’. This song, composed in praise of the motherland, became the strongest inspiration for patriotism during the freedom struggle. Many revolutionaries sacrificed their lives smilingly, chanting “Vande Mataram”. Vande Mataram became a symbol of the Indian freedom movement.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that during the partition of Bengal in 1905, ‘Vande Mataram’ gave new energy to the Swadeshi movement. From North to South and East to West, this song became a mantra of cultural unity and patriotism.

The Chief Minister said that upon hearing ‘Vande Mataram’, the heart is filled with energy, pride, and patriotism. This song reminds us that our land, water, food, and culture are our life-giving forces. He said, “In Europe, land is called ‘Fatherland’, but in India, we call our land ‘Motherland’.” This sentiment is expressed in the Ramayana verse “Janani Janmabhumishcha Swargadapi Gareeyasi”. ‘Vande Mataram’ is also our motto born out of this sentiment.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that this initiative will provide a beautiful opportunity for the future generation to learn about our past struggles and the role of immortal compositions like ‘Vande Mataram’ in the freedom struggle. On this occasion, he called upon all citizens to resolve to build a developed India and a developed Chhattisgarh and dedicate it to Mother India and Chhattisgarh Mahtari.
