Michael Vaughan has expressed his reservations about including Jofra Archer in the England team for the Edgbaston Test against India. Vaughan believes that Archer needs more time to play red-ball cricket with Sussex before being considered for the third Test at Lord’s. Archer played his first first-class game since 2021, appearing for Sussex in the County Championship match with Durham at Chester-le-Street. He had figures of 1-32 in 18 overs.

“No. He’s had four years out of action, I don’t see what the great rush is. Just give him a couple of games for Sussex and then bring him in for the game at Lord’s. I would continue with the attack that have bowled so well here at Leeds this week,” said Vaughan.

The first Test at Headingley provided an exciting contest. India scored 359/3 on Day 1. Shubman Gill scored a century, and Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul contributed. Rishabh Pant made twin centuries, and Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets. However, India couldn’t defend their total of 371. England successfully chased 345, with Ben Duckett scoring 149 on the final day. England leads the series 1-0.
