The Vice Presidential election is scheduled for Tuesday, with the NDA’s CP Radhakrishnan and opposition candidate Justice B Sudershan Reddy as the main contenders. The NDA is confident of Radhakrishnan’s victory, owing to its majority in the electoral college and support from other parties. The voting will occur in Parliament, with the results expected later. Both the BJP-led NDA and opposition parties organized mock polls to provide guidance on the voting procedures. Prime Minister Modi highlighted the enthusiastic reception of Radhakrishnan’s candidacy, expressing his expectation for a valuable contribution to the office. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed confidence that Radhakrishnan would secure more votes than the NDA’s existing tally, suggesting the potential for additional support. PM Modi addressed NDA MPs, focusing on the importance of the recently passed bills in Parliament. The INDIA bloc held a mock poll to prevent invalid votes. The BJD and BRS announced that they would abstain from the election. BRS cited its protest against shortages of urea.
