The Vice Presidential election, scheduled for September 9th, is intensifying the political landscape. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has announced its support for the INDIA bloc’s candidate, former Supreme Court Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, in the upcoming Vice Presidential election.
AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi revealed the party’s support for B. Sudarshan Reddy in a post on ‘X’.
Owaisi stated that the Telangana Chief Minister’s office had reached out to him, requesting support for B. Sudarshan Reddy, the INDIA alliance’s candidate for Vice President. He added that AIMIM has decided to back B. Sudarshan Reddy.
MP Owaisi’s post highlighted that Justice Sudarshan Reddy is from Hyderabad and is a respected jurist. Owaisi mentioned he had a personal conversation with him and extended his best wishes. Owaisi noted that supporting Reddy, with his Telangana background, is a source of pride for the party.
The INDIA alliance has nominated Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy as its candidate, who is running against NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan for the Vice President post. Owaisi’s support is seen as a significant development within Telangana politics, potentially improving Justice Reddy’s standing.
Speaking on the decision to support Sudarshan Reddy, Owaisi said that upholding constitutional values and democracy has been central to his career.
