Before Diwali, the administration raided two houses at Ganjbasoda tehsil headquarters of the district and seized more than 150 quintals of adulterated mawa and sweets made from mawa and 30 quintals of cheese. This goods was kept in 22 freezers in this house. Officials say that the quantity of mawa could be even higher.

    According to Ganjbasoda SDM Vijay Rai, he had received information that a large consignment of adulterated mawa has arrived in the city, which is being prepared to be spent on Diwali. On this information, he along with the police and food safety officer raided the house of Kailash Sahu located on Station Road.

    He does business of selling Mawa, Paneer and other items from his home. He got one quintal of mawa from this house. During interrogation, it was revealed that he had taken a separate house in Subhash Niketan street to keep the goods.

    When the investigation team reached this house, they were surprised to see the quantity of mawa and sweets kept here. There were 22 freezers kept in the rooms of this house, in which about 75 quintals of mawa was found in sacks, while barfi was kept in cartoons and milk cake was kept in sacks. According to Rai, this goods is said to be brought from Rajasthan. The condition of the milk cake bags was so bad that the sweets were dripping out of them.

    Bought two houses in the city in ten years

    According to sources, Kailash Sahu, a resident of a village near Orchha, came to live in Ganj Basoda about ten years ago. He had opened a shop by the name of Sahu Mawa Bhandar on Station Road. Gradually he started expanding the business of Mawa. Apart from cities, he started selling mawa and sweets in villages also. Over a period of ten years, he bought two houses by selling adulterated mawa and sweets. Apart from this, other properties were also created.
