Violence Erupts as Bangladesh Protest Leader Dies Abroad

Bangladesh is facing renewed unrest following the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, a prominent leader of the anti-Sheikh Hasina movement, who passed away in Singapore. Hadi had been receiving treatment after being shot by unidentified attackers in Dhaka’s Paltan area while traveling in a rickshaw. His condition deteriorated, leading to his transfer to Singapore General Hospital, where he died. In tribute to Hadi, a declared ‘fearless fighter,’ Yunus has ordered a one-day state mourning. The national flag will be flown at half-mast nationwide and at Bangladesh’s overseas missions.
