President Donald Trump has officially begun his Asia tour with a dynamic arrival in Malaysia for the ASEAN Summit, featuring a memorable dance during the welcoming proceedings. His plane touched down at Kuala Lumpur International Airport to a fanfare of military honors, a Malaysian fighter jet escort, and enthusiastic onlookers waving national flags.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his ministers greeted President Trump on the tarmac. The most talked-about moment of the arrival was Trump’s spontaneous participation in a traditional dance alongside local performers. He was seen smiling, moving to the rhythm, and even holding small flags from the audience, an act that was quickly celebrated across social media platforms. Prime Minister Ibrahim also joined briefly, adding to the festive atmosphere.

From the welcome ceremony, President Trump proceeded to the ASEAN Summit, where bilateral trade agreements, including one with Malaysia, are expected to be finalized. He had previously announced his intention to “sign the Peace Deal immediately upon arrival,” referencing the Thailand-Cambodia ceasefire agreement he played a role in establishing.

This visit marks Trump’s return to the ASEAN Summit after skipping it during his prior term. While in Malaysia, he is also set to hold discussions with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The President’s international schedule also includes a brief stop in Qatar for talks related to the Gaza conflict, followed by diplomatic engagements in Japan and South Korea. A significant meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping is scheduled to address the ongoing trade war, and the possibility of a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has not been discounted.
