The monsoon is anticipated to strengthen across different parts of the country in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for exceptionally heavy rainfall over Northwest, Central, East, and Northeast India for the next seven days, with particularly intense downpours expected in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on June 30th, 2025.

Delhi, after enduring a period of intense heat since the start of June, is expected to experience a change in weather patterns. The Met Department has issued a yellow alert for rain on Sunday and Monday. The city saw heavy showers in several areas of Delhi/NCR on Saturday evening, providing a much-needed respite.

The IMD stated that conditions are becoming favorable for the continued advancement of the Southwest monsoon across the remaining areas of the country within the next two days. Warnings have been issued for heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh from June 28th to July 4th; Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh from June 29th to July 2nd; West Rajasthan on July 3rd and 4th; and East Rajasthan from July 1st to 4th. Residents should be prepared for wet weather.

The advisory also includes Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand & Odisha from June 29th to July 4th; Vidarbha on July 1st and 2nd; Andaman & Nicobar Islands on June 29th; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim from June 30th to July 2nd; Gangetic West Bengal from June 29th to July 1st; and Bihar from June 29th to July 4th.
