Several regions in North India are under a weather alert as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy rainfall this week. The Northwest regions, encompassing Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and East Rajasthan, are expected to receive torrential rains between June 22nd and 28th. The monsoon has already reached Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh & Kashmir, Jammu, and parts of Punjab. Delhi/NCR is also anticipated to experience intense downpours by June 24th. The Weather Department has also issued a warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall in Northeast India over the next seven days. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions due to the possibility of traffic disruptions and waterlogging. The conditions are also turning favorable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon across East, Central, and West India. The affected areas include Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha.
