The southwest monsoon has established itself across much of India, leading to widespread rainfall. Several states are currently experiencing heavy downpours. Delhi experienced good rainfall at the end of June, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting more rain for the capital.
The IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Delhi through July 7. Eastern Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and western Uttar Pradesh are expected to see substantial rainfall, with some locations receiving very heavy to extremely heavy amounts.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also forecast for Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Odisha. The IMD anticipates heavy rainfall in Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh for six to seven days. Sikkim, Bihar, and West Bengal are also likely to experience heavy rain. The monsoon will be active in northwest, east, and central India during this period.
Rainfall is also expected in Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat. Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh can expect heavy rainfall until July 7. Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh will likely experience heavy rain from July 5-7. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Uttar Pradesh until July 5, and Himachal Pradesh today and from July 5-7. Several areas in northwest India can anticipate heavy rainfall for the next seven days.
Southern India is also anticipating rain. Telangana will receive rain today, Kerala from today until July 5, and Karnataka from today until July 7. Strong winds (40-50 kmph) are expected in the southern peninsular India for the next seven days. Thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall are possible in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
