In West Bengal, the political scene is heating up in anticipation of the upcoming assembly elections. Both the BJP and the Trinamool Congress are busy preparing their strategies. The BJP, led by Suvendu Adhikari, is targeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s seat, while the TMC is focusing on Nandigram, a key BJP stronghold.

BJP sources reveal that Adhikari has already initiated preparations in Bhawanipur, including bolstering the party at the booth level and conducting surveys to assess past performance. The goal is to analyze the areas where the Chief Minister’s party gained or lost ground in the 2021 elections.

Adhikari has made it clear that he intends to limit Mamata Banerjee’s influence in Bhawanipur. The BJP is gathering voter data and plans to establish an office in the constituency.

Following the recent controversy in Bihar over voter list revisions, Adhikari has warned that similar measures, including the removal of thousands of fake names, will be implemented in Bengal to prevent fraudulent voting.

The TMC is strategically adapting its approach in Nandigram, where Mamata Banerjee secured a narrow victory in 2021. The result is still pending in court. Inside sources say that TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee and other top leaders are holding meetings with district leaders and block-level organizers to reinforce their position in Adhikari’s area. A TMC leader confirmed these meetings, highlighting the need for a dedicated strategy for Nandigram and a soon-to-be-held meeting with booth presidents.

Political analysts believe the upcoming election will be a face-off between Mamata Banerjee and Suvendu Adhikari, as well as Abhishek Banerjee and Suvendu Adhikari, with both sides vying to establish dominance. The focus now is on TMC’s next steps in Nandigram, with a highly competitive election expected by both parties.
