The recent spell of heavy rainfall in West Singhbhum has caused significant disruption, particularly impacting the local transportation network. The approach road to the culvert over the Kankuwa River, a vital link on the Jagannathpur-Jaintgarh main road, has been completely destroyed by the relentless downpour, effectively cutting off access to the area. This has caused considerable inconvenience to the local population. Former MP Geeta Koda visited the site on Sunday to evaluate the impact and provide support. She engaged with residents, listened to their concerns, and pledged to find immediate solutions. During her inspection, she directed the PWD officials to immediately commence the repair of the culvert and arrange for a temporary alternative route to restore public access. Geeta Koda highlighted the importance of prioritizing the public’s ease of movement and access. She also stated that the ongoing rains have led to widespread damage to roads, bridges, and schools, along with the collapse of numerous houses in rural areas. The inspection was attended by several local leaders and residents, including BJP Jagannathpur Mandal President Rai Bhumij, Rohit Kumhar, Dayanidhi Pradhan, Ghanshyam Das, and Sanjeev Kumhar. The former MP has appealed to the district administration to swiftly repair all damaged infrastructure, provide compensation to affected families, connect them to social security programs, and undertake road repairs once the weather stabilizes to prevent accidents.
