A palpable chill is descending upon Jharkhand as temperatures begin a steady decline across numerous districts, heralding the arrival of winter. This cooling trend affects both daytime highs and nighttime lows, with projections indicating a continued downward movement. Although minor temperature shifts may occur due to transient weather phenomena, the overall outlook is one of increasing cold. The weather department’s update on Saturday highlighted this developing situation. While some areas currently report maximum temperatures above 34 degrees Celsius, these readings are expected to decrease as the winter season progresses.

Comparing Saturday’s data to Friday’s, several districts in Jharkhand experienced a temperature decrease ranging from one to two degrees Celsius. Ranchi noted a one-degree drop in its minimum temperature. Daltonganj’s maximum temperature also fell by one degree, and Bokaro’s minimum temperature registered a similar decline. Chaibasa’s maximum temperature likewise decreased by one degree, underscoring the widespread cooling effect.

The last 24 hours also brought light to moderate rainfall to certain regions of the state. Manoharpur recorded the highest precipitation at 20 millimeters, while locations such as Sonua, Kurdeg, Adki, and Gumla received between 10 to 14 millimeters. The highest temperature recorded statewide was 34.4 degrees Celsius in Gonda, with the lowest being 18.2 degrees Celsius in Latehar. Other significant temperature readings included Ranchi at 29.9°C, Jamshedpur at 34°C, Daltonganj at 33.4°C, Bokaro at 33.1°C, and Chaibasa at 34.4°C.
