15 killed in fireplace at Russia cafe after flare gun goes off

By Associated Press: A hearth in a restaurant within the Russian metropolis of Kostroma killed 15 folks and injured 5 others on Saturday, native authorities mentioned.
The blaze erupted within the early hours after somebody apparently used a flare gun throughout a dispute, authorities mentioned.
Rescuers have been in a position to evacuate 250 folks. The governor of the Kostroma area, Sergei Sitnikov, mentioned 5 folks have been barely injured and obtained medical help.

The roof of the cafe collapsed through the fireplace.
A felony investigation has been launched, and the police are looking for the one that used the flare gun.
Kostroma, a riverside metropolis of 270,000, is positioned roughly 340 kilometers (210 miles) north of Moscow.
It wasn’t the primary time that pyrotechnics precipitated a lethal fireplace at a leisure venue in Russia. In 2009, greater than 150 folks have been killed in a blaze on the Lame Horse nightclub within the metropolis of Perm that erupted after somebody set off fireworks.
