22 killed as passenger boat collides with sand trawler in Bangladesh

At least 22 individuals, together with 9 youngsters, have died in a passenger boat accident in Bangladesh’s Laiska Beel rivulet, based on a media report on Saturday.
On Friday night, a ship carrying over 100 individuals collided with two sand-carrying vessels within the river close to Brahmanbaria metropolis, ensuing within the passenger boat sinking.
Twenty-two our bodies have been recovered on Saturday, whereas 15 others have been rescued and despatched to hospital. Nearly 50 individuals swam to security after accident, the Dhaka Tribune reported.

The deceased embody 11 ladies, two males and 9 youngsters, The Daily Star reported.

The police have arrested 5 individuals in reference to the mishap.
The arrested are the house owners and staffers of the sand-laden trawler.

The authorities has setup a three-member probe panel to analyze the incident and submit a report in 10 days, the Dhaka Tribune newspaper reported.
Further, the federal government has introduced compensation of 20,000 Bangladeshi taka to the households of the victims.
