According to the CTTC, Fakrul Islam went to Pakistan in 1988 to affix the Soviet-Afghan struggle and later took weapons coaching in Afghanistan. During these years, he met a number of Taliban leaders, together with the then Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar.
