Amidst ongoing anti-corruption demonstrations, former Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife were attacked on Tuesday. Videos surfaced online showing protesters breaking into Deuba’s residence in Budanilkantha, Kathmandu. Deuba was visibly injured and bleeding from his face, while his wife, Arzu Rana Deuba, showed signs of assault. The house was vandalized before they could be rescued. The protests, organized by ‘Gen Z’ activists, escalated into widespread arson and vandalism across Nepal. Party offices, homes of political figures, and government buildings were set ablaze. The private residence of outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Balkot, Bhaktapur, was targeted, along with President Ram Chandra Paudel’s Kathmandu residence. Both the Prime Minister and President resigned in the wake of the unrest. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel was seen fleeing from protesters in Kathmandu. The violence has claimed 19 lives and injured more than 300 people.
