Late Saturday, a bus leaving Bafoussam for the regional capital Bamenda was halted by heavily armed men in the north‑west province of Cameroon. The assailants forced the driver and ten passengers off the vehicle and escorted them into a nearby jungle area.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen threatened the hostages and later demanded a substantial ransom from the victims’ families. The incident adds to a series of similar attacks that have plagued the region for months.
Security officials say the road has been shut down while a coordinated sweep is under way. The operation aims to free the captives and prevent further kidnappings on this vulnerable corridor.
