Baloch Critics Blast Pakistan Over Failed US-Iran Islamabad Talks
2 min readHigh-level US-Iran discussions in Islamabad fizzled out without resolution, prompting Baloch leaders to unleash scathing attacks on Pakistan’s credentials as a mediator. Baloch American Congress chief Tara Chand labeled the venue choice a ‘monumental blunder,’ portraying Pakistan as chaotic and lacking integrity.
In his Monday X post, Chand minced no words: ‘Peace negotiations between the United States and Iran in a problematic, dishonest place like Pakistan doom them from the start. Without global credibility, Pakistan can’t drive effective outcomes.’
He urged opting for neutral grounds respectful of the stakes involved. The grueling 20-plus-hour talks ended fruitlessly, with VP JD Vance cautioning Iran of dire self-inflicted consequences for stonewalling US conditions.
Baloch rights advocate Mir Yar Baloch piled on, branding Pakistan ‘peace’s archenemy.’ He listed grievous sins: the Bengal genocide of 3 million, 15,000 Palestinian deaths in Jordan, 500,000 Afghan killings, the deadly Kabul hospital strike during Ramadan (400 civilians lost), and 200,000 Baloch fatalities.
‘Islamabad undermines America, Russia in Afghanistan, Balochistan, Israel, India, and Arab welfare,’ Mir charged. He linked the mediation gambit to Pakistan’s crises: dire finances, battlefield losses to Baloch rebels pushing for a unified republic, and governance meltdown.
This was merely a smokescreen, Mir argued, to mask military routs and public revolts. ‘Pakistan’s forces are crushed on home soil; they’re weaving mediation illusions to dupe the international community anew.’
The fallout exposes fractures in regional dynamics, with Baloch voices amplifying calls for accountability. As US-Iran deadlock persists, the Islamabad debacle reinforces the need for credible forums, sidelining nations with baggage.
Global observers watch closely, pondering if this fiasco reshapes mediation strategies amid escalating rivalries.
