Bangladesh: At least 21 useless in boat accident

A ship carrying greater than 70 folks sank in Bangladesh’s Brahmanbaria district on Friday after a collision that concerned a sand-laden cargo ship.
At least 21 folks died and near 50 had been lacking, as rescue operations passed off late into the night time.
The incident passed off within the Bijoynagar space, about 82 kilometers (51 miles) east of the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka.
“We have recovered 21 bodies including nine women and six children so far,” mentioned native authorities administrator Hayat-Ud-Dola, including that the toll would possible rise.

Akhi Akter was touring on the boat together with her son, mother-in-law and brother-in-law when it capsized.
“When the accident occurred, I managed to swim back to the bank. But the rest of my relatives are still missing,” she mentioned.

While waterways are a typical option to transfer folks and items in Bangladesh, poor enforcement of security measures has led to lethal accidents prior to now.
