Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was allegedly poisoned in Russia, necessitating his hospitalization. He is now reported to be in stable condition. Assad was removed from power in Syria approximately ten months before the incident. Following this, he moved to Moscow, where he has been living under the protection of Russia. The poisoning is speculated to be orchestrated to undermine Russia and to implicate the nation in the assassination. The Syrian Human Rights Organization has reported Assad’s release from a hospital near Moscow. Assad’s brother, Maher, visited him during his hospital stay. The Russian government has yet to make a public statement concerning the matter.
