BBC collection on PM Modi filled with smears, innuendos: UK MP Robert Blackman

By Dev Ankur Wadhawan: The BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “full of innuendos and smears” and the tax raids on the BBC workplaces in India usually are not related to the two-part collection, UK Member of Parliament Robert Blackman stated in Jaipur.

“The BBC documentary is one which is full of innuendos and smears. I have seen both parts of the documentary and it made my blood boil to look at the smears there are. I think the BBC, which is independent of the government in the United Kingdom, should not indulge in smears. The Indian government has the right to decide what is shown in India and what is not,” Blackman stated.

“I think they (the I-T searches on BBC offices in India and the documentary) are not connected,” he added.

A crew of 15 officers from the Income Tax Department carried out survey operations on the workplaces of the BBC in Delhi and Mumbai on Tuesday. Sources stated the searches had been associated to allegations of International Taxation and Transfer Pricing irregularities.

The division is taking a look at paperwork associated to the enterprise operations of the corporate and people associated to its Indian arm, officers informed information company PTI.
