In Beijing, President Xi Jinping met with foreign ministers and officials from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) who were in attendance at the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs meeting. Xi emphasized the growth and strength of the SCO, highlighting its commitment to the Shanghai Spirit. He reaffirmed China’s dedication to the SCO, focusing on bolstering regional security, driving development, and building a community with a shared destiny. China, holding the rotating presidency since last July, has been actively promoting cooperation, with the upcoming SCO Summit to be held in Tianjin. Xi Jinping expressed his intention to meet other leaders at the summit and called for the SCO to play a more active role in stabilizing the international landscape. India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was also present and conveyed greetings from Indian leaders, while also discussing the recent developments in bilateral ties. The visit marked the first trip to China for Jaishankar since the 2020 Galwan incident.
