Upon his arrival in Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted with a vibrant Bhojpuri Chautaal performance, celebrating the strong cultural connection between India and the Caribbean nation. The visit, PM Modi’s first to the country as Prime Minister and the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister since 1999, saw him engage with members of the Indian community. PM Modi praised the diaspora for their achievements and their connection to Indian culture. PM Modi also met with the winners of the Bharat Ko Janiye (Know India) Quiz, furthering ties. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, along with numerous ministers and members of Parliament, welcomed PM Modi, who was also presented with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the airport.
