In this budget, the government can make a big announcement for youth, farmers and low-income people. According to the information revealed, the government can double the insurance cover of Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme in the full Union Budget. Apart from this, all people above 70 years of age will also be brought under the purview of this scheme.

There will be an insurance cover of 10 lakhs

According to media reports, if the doubling of insurance cover is approved, then according to the estimate of the National Health Authority, an additional expenditure of Rs 12,076 crore will be incurred on government revenue every year. According to media reports, there is a discussion on increasing the beneficiary insurance cover from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh under AB-PMJAY in the next three years, which if implemented will provide health cover to more than two-thirds of the country’s population. The central government may announce these proposals in the upcoming budget.

12 crore families will get benefit

Let us tell you that in the interim budget 2024 presented in February, the government had increased the allocation for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to Rs 7,200 crore, under which 12 crore families get health cover of Rs 5 lakh every year. Apart from this, the government allocated Rs 646 crore for Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM).

People above 70 years of age will also be covered

Addressing the joint session of Parliament, President Draupadi Murmu had said that under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, all people above 70 years of age will be covered and they will be provided free treatment.
