In the heart of New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with foreign ministers gathered for the BRICS conclave, a platform scripted for strategic engagements as per official briefings from the Foreign Ministry.

The prime highlight was Modi’s joint session at Sewa Tirth with the international delegation. As dusk falls, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s dinner at Bharat Mandapam promises candid exchanges over cuisine.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi touched down Thursday morning for the core meetings. Jaishankar extended a ceremonial welcome to all, then steered discussions on global hotspots, voicing India’s resolute perspectives.

Central to his address: peace and security as global bedrock. Recent upheavals reinforce diplomacy’s primacy. He called for dialogues rooted in parity and differentiated duties, steering toward enduring sustainability.

Technology’s role in redefining the world order was a key pivot, with calls to leverage it for efficient administration and equitable growth. Bolstering anti-terror partnerships was flagged as a collective priority.

Jaishankar zeroed in on chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea, cautioning against disruptions that could upend energy supplies and economic steadiness. Unfettered maritime access is indispensable.

India’s presidency frames the summit around ‘Building Resilience, Innovation, Collaboration for Sustainable Development,’ inspired by PM Modi’s people-oriented philosophy.

The roster boasts Brazil’s Mauro Vieira, Russia’s Sergey Lavrov, Iran’s Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Indonesia’s Sugiono, Malaysia’s Dato Seri Utama Mohammad bin Haji Hassan, UAE’s Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, South Africa’s Ronald Lamola, and additional delegates.

Friday intensifies with a thematic BRICS@20 session and focused reforms discourse on global governance, positioning BRICS for impactful multilateral evolution.
