Footage posted by the fireplace brigade on Twitter confirmed massive plumes of smoke coming from below the railway arch, which it mentioned was “completely alight”. London Underground trains in addition to overground trains into London Bridge and Southwark had been disrupted.

“The blaze is producing heavy smoke and those living or working in the local area are advised to keep their windows and doors closed,” Station Commander Wayne Johnson mentioned in a press release on the fireplace service’s web site.
