The competition, staged on the Isle of Easdale, sees participants skip stones across water for distance. This year, some contestants were accused of using manipulated stones. When questioned, they confirmed these alterations. Toss Master Matthews revealed during a radio discussion that some stones had been tampered with, likely to enhance their performance. The competition uses natural stones sourced from the island, with a ‘Ring of Truth’ used to check their size. The event has drawn over 2,000 participants from 27 countries. The winner this year was John Jennings from Kentucky, who achieved a winning score of 580.7 feet. He is the first American to win the championship.
