China Claims Eight Golds at Asian Weightlifting Championship in Single Day

The Chinese weightlifting squad produced an outstanding display at the Asian Weightlifting Championship in Gandhinagar, India, on May 16, capturing eight gold medals and one silver in three categories.

Liao Guifang triumphed in the women’s 77kg event, winning all three golds with a snatch of 118kg, clean and jerk of 147kg, and a total lift of 265kg. Her results underscored China’s depth in women’s competitions.

Thu Yi dominated the men’s 94kg category, securing three gold medals through lifts of 175kg in snatch, 211kg in clean and jerk, and 386kg overall. His achievements reflected the rigorous training standards of the Chinese team.

Feng Chuiting won two golds in the women’s 86kg category for snatch and total along with a silver in clean and jerk. She lifted 127kg in snatch, 143kg in clean and jerk, and 270kg total. Bahrain’s Marushchak claimed the clean and jerk title with 145kg.

At the end of four days, China has collected 16 gold, 11 silver, and 8 bronze medals, highlighting their sustained excellence in the sport.
