Chinese army says US destroyer’s passage via Taiwan Strait ‘provocative’

The U.S. destroyer Ralph Johnson’s sail-through of the Taiwan Strait on March 17 was a “provocative” act by the United States and despatched the fallacious alerts to pro-Taiwan independence forces, the Chinese army stated on Saturday.

Such an act was “very dangerous”, a Chinese army spokesperson stated in a press release, including that troops have been organised to observe the Ralph Johnson’s passage.

China says Taiwan is essentially the most delicate and necessary concern in its relations with the United States. Washington has no formal diplomatic relations with Taipei, however is Taiwan’s most necessary worldwide backer and arms provider.

Chinese President Xi Jinping instructed his U.S. counterpart Joe Biden on Friday that the Taiwan concern must be dealt with correctly to keep away from a destructive affect on Sino-U.S. relations.
