Chinese President Xi Jinping to skip G20 Summit in India

China has formally knowledgeable the Indian facet that President Xi Jinping won’t attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi, media studies citing official sources stated on Saturday (2 September). The studies added that the Chinese delegation can be led by Chinese Premier Li Qiang. 

“The Chinese President is not travelling to India for the G-20 Summit,” individuals accustomed to the event had been quoted in studies. They added that leaders skipp such summits for numerous causes and “these things do not reflect anything about the host country.”

Up till yesterday, Special Secretary for the G20 Summit, Muktesh Pardeshi, had been stating that India is awaiting a written affirmation from China on Xi Jinping’s attendance on the G-20 summit. While it has been broadly speculated that the Chinese president wouldn’t attend the summit, there isn’t a official affirmation. But now media studies are citing sources that it his absence is official now.

The Chinese President can be the second head of state within the G-20 grouping who will skip the summit in New Delhi to be held on September 9 and 10. 

Xi Jinping skipped the G20 summit in Italy in 2021 too, as a consequence of Covid restrictions imposed by his authorities. However, he had attended the classes through video hyperlink and had given his speeches.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephonic dialog together with his Indian counterpart. During the interplay, Putin informed Indian PM Narendra Modi that he can be unable to attend the summit in particular person. At the G-20 summit, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov would characterize the Russian delegation. According to a Russian govt spokesperson, Putin wouldn’t attend the summit as he had a “busy schedule”.

According to specialists, Xi Jinping’s absence from the summit would sign that China is reluctant to resolve the border disputes with India. However, China had earlier tried to current a contrarian stand when Chinese President Xi Jinping final met PM Modi in South Africa through the BRICS summit. 

Following the temporary assembly, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated President Xi “stressed that improving China-India relations serves the common interests of the two countries and peoples”.

Speaking in regards to the two chief’s quick assembly through the BRICS summit, India’s Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra stated that PM Modi conveyed to Chinese President Xi Jinping India’s considerations in regards to the unresolved points alongside the Line of Actual Control (LAC) within the western sector of the India-China border areas.

Meanwhile, earlier whereas talking on the studies that the Chinese President may skip the G-20 summit, US President Joe Biden stated that he “hopes” Xi Jinping would attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi.
