The Pakistani government says that the locations of citizens who purchase SIM cards are being monitored via websites, and the details of the SIM cards are being sold. Furthermore, phone tapping is being conducted, and the data is being sold. According to Minute Mirror, some websites are involved in the data leakage and phone tapping. Pakistan’s intelligence agency had already alerted the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority in 2023, but no action was taken against these sites. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced a fresh investigation. Naqvi stated that this is unfortunate and that a 14-member committee has been formed to submit a report, after which further action will be taken.
