Deadly Explosion in Afghanistan: Parwan Youth Killed by Bomb

अफगानिस्तान:

Tragedy struck in Afghanistan’s Parwan province as a 20-year-old’s attempt to disassemble an unexploded bomb ended in a devastating blast, killing him and injuring three children. The incident unfolded Tuesday in Bagram district, with Taliban police briefing media the following day.

Instant death claimed the young tamperer at the site, while two girls and a boy were hurt and transported to Parwan’s medical facility for care. Such accidents are alarmingly common in a country scarred by prolonged insurgency.

Unexploded devices and landmines, remnants of years of fighting, continue to menace civilians. Rural villages and ex-battlefields are rife with these concealed hazards, snaring the innocent.

Disaster management statistics paint a sobering picture: 96 deaths and 328 wounded from similar events last year. Over April 2025 to March 2026, 225 blasts harmed 474 souls—321 kids among them, plus 153 adults.

Farah, Herat, Kunar, Nangarhar, and Kandahar see elevated risks. Echoing this, February’s Farah house explosion from a jostled dud shell killed two.

Leaders implore caution: avoid suspicious items and alert security personnel immediately. Only through vigilance and systematic removal can Afghanistan reclaim safety for its people.
