Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi issued a direct call to action for Bangladesh’s newly sworn-in Prime Minister Tarique Rahman: rebuild the fractured India-Bangladesh relationship and halt the persecution of Hindus.
Chaturvedi, in a revealing interview, voiced confidence that Rahman’s democratic mandate would inspire efforts to sweeten bilateral relations gone sour. ‘Guided by the democracy that elected him, I expect proactive steps to realign our neighboring ties,’ she affirmed.
She recounted the grim incidents of recent months—extremist assaults on Hindus, backed by Pakistan, leading to lynchings and fatalities. ‘The new leadership must intervene decisively, curbing these acts and prosecuting the guilty,’ the MP insisted.
Turning to interim head Muhammad Yunus, Chaturvedi accused him of serving Pakistani interests by undermining India-Bangladesh rapport and neglecting Hindu safety. ‘Yunus allowed targeted killings and violence to fester without consequence,’ she alleged.
Amid these concerns, Chaturvedi highlighted the positive momentum in India-France relations during President Macron’s visit. ‘Our strategic alliance, rooted in defense pacts, trade synergies, shared values, and global order commitments, promises development and better living standards for our peoples,’ she stated, emphasizing long-term collaboration.
