Himanta Biswa Sarma, while discussing child marriage among Muslims in a long discussion with local journalists, said that I cannot do any miracle in three years. Talking about his tenure as Health Minister in 2009, he said that during my tenure, one lakh men were sterilized. Later the program went off track. If political leaders do not join the population control campaign considering Muslims as a vote bank, then how will we control the population.

He said that political leaders of the Muslim community have two children, but they do not go to the villages and suggest people of their community to have two children. They (Muslims) do not listen to me, they consider me an enemy. In such a situation, those whom they consider their friends need to take social responsibility.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said that in my opinion, Congress has the biggest responsibility of population control, because they listen to Congress. Tomorrow if Rahul Gandhi becomes the brand ambassador of population control, then this thing (population control) will happen soon. This will not happen quickly, but quickly, because they listen to them, not me. They consider me an enemy.
