This major build-up involves the rapid construction of roads, tunnels, bridges, and airfields in treacherous, high-altitude terrain. The goal is to drastically improve the speed of troop deployment and the reliability of supply lines along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is central to this effort, with its budget significantly increased to manage numerous projects, including the vital Zoji La tunnel and the strategically located Nyoma airbase.
