India-Seychelles Defense Ties Shine in INS Trikand Drills

Spanning March 16-22, activities included top-tier meetings and the innovative ‘Lamitiye 2026’ exercise, fortifying India’s maritime footprint.
Ship commander Captain Sachin Kulkarni engaged Seychelles leaders and the Indian envoy in talks aimed at expanding cooperation, complemented by the provision of essential spares—a hallmark of strategic goodwill.
The exercise introduced tri-service participation from India alongside Seychelles troops, blending Army, Navy, and Air Force expertise. Harbor phase honed VBSS skills for joint seizures, while sea operations with Le Vigilant tackled real-world threats.
Combined teams executed sea-borne infiltrations blocks, drone oversight, strike missions, and rescues. Tailored to maritime and semi-urban contexts, it involved integrated Seychelles units for comprehensive threat neutralization.
Training encompassed sieges in built-up areas, precision engagements, and collaborative strategizing, enhancing mutual confidence. The Praslin amphibious assault stood out as a testament to joint amphibious might.
Seychelles’ senior officers, including Major General Michael Rosette and Brigadier Jean Atala, toured INS Trikand during sea drills, observing interoperability in action. This paved the way for superior joint maritime security.
Aligned with SAGAR principles, the visit reaffirms the Indian Navy’s dedication as a dependable first-responder and security anchor in the Indian Ocean region, driving stability and collaborative advancement.
